Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer - Minn-Kota Honors Institute Speaker

Meet Jack

Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer is a professor of Justice and Peace Studies at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, former political candidate, and an experienced activist.

How is grave injustice best defeated? What strategy is most effective against cruel oppression? History provides a surprising answer: nonviolent resistance may be the most powerful weapon in the struggle against injustice. Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer will present a public forum on nonviolent resistance as a tactic for overcoming entrenched oppression. Can groups such as Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter orchestrate successful protests against perceived injustices? Can a good result be achieved by unjust means? Professor Nelson-Pallmeyer will present evidence that good ends require good means and that, even, violent adversaries are best persuaded by nonviolent resistance that employs tools of love and sacrifice to achieve peace.
